Hunting for wild garlic
When spring arrives, it is time for a walk in the forest. Explore the forests on Fyn and notice the powerful smell of garlic – then you know that ramson is near. If you haven’t found your own place to forage ramson, we have made this list. Take a look and get inspired for forest walk.
Forage with care
The small green leaves begin to emerge from the forest floor at the end of February. For the rest of spring you can enjoy the garlicky plant in the kitchen at home. You can use the whole plant – leaves, the flowers and the bulb itself. Make a delicious ramson pesto or ramson salt.
Remember to only forage what you need and leave some for other keen foragers and next years crop. You must also be aware that ramson can be confused with Lilly of the Valley, which is poisonous. Tell them apart by smelling – ramson has a distinct garlic smell.

The forest at Flyvesandet
Go hunting for ramson in the most northern forest on Fyn. The area also has a bird sanctuary, beautiful sand dunes and a kid-friendly beach.

Christiansminde by Svendborgsund
Explore the biggest forest area in Svendborg - Gl. Hestehave, Hallindskoven, Stævneskoven and Christiansminde - if you are lucky you can find ramson. It is also a fantastic place to ride your MTB.
Vester Skerninge Præstegårdsskov
This forest is also known as the Priest's forest and it sure is a little gem. You can find ramson, but also plenty of old oak trees, hazel bushes, climbing ivy and a beautiful of the archipelago.
The tracks at Store Dannesbo and Avernakgård
Go hunting for ramson along the tracks at St. Dannesbo, which is approx. 10 km from Odense. There is three different tracks - yellow, red and blue.

The woodland Egehoved is located on the outskirts of Marstal, close to the beach Eriks Hale, and offers many opportunities.
